The NSF funded National High Magnetic Field Laboratory is sponsoring an in depth workshop on building MRI coils for preclinical imaging the week of May 5-9, 2025 at the MagLab AMRIS facility, located at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
WHat: Radio Frequency Coil Workshop
When: May 5-9, 2025
Where: The McKnight Brain Institute, MagLab AMRIS facility, University of Florida in Gainesville
Registration fee: $200

The content of this five-day workshop is designed to introduce graduate and post-doctoral students to the fundamentals of MRI coil design, construction, and testing. The workshop will focus on technical details of coil design and construction, including practical aspects of circuit design and construction, coil assembly and tuning, and coil testing. Participants will gain hands-on practice with RF tuning and matching, coil pattern design, cable making, impedance matching, basic soldering, 3D printing, and trap circuits. They will each build their own working surface coil that they will be able to take to their home lab on completion of the workshop.
The RF Coil Workshop registration fee is $200 and spots are extremely limited. Lunches and workshop supplies are provided during the workshop. However, all transportation, lodging, and other meals are the responsibility of each participant. Space is limited to 5 attendees.
To apply: Email your CV/biosketch and a letter of support from your PI/supervisor to eli.wolf@ufl.edu by March 31, 2025. Due to space limits within the AMRIS RF laboratory, excess applicants will be placed on a waitlist for priority contact regarding future workshops.
Work performed at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory’s Advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy Facility is supported by National Science Foundation Cooperative Agreement DMR-2128556 and the State of Florida.
