That’s the formula for Tallahassee’s Science Café, sponsored by the MagLab and Backwoods Bistro. At this quarterly evening event, scientists from the MagLab and elsewhere use plain English to discuss current science topics in a casual atmosphere. Topics are carefully designed to stimulate your mental palate.

Science Café takes place at Backwoods Bistro located at 401 E Tennessee Street. Speakers start around 6:15 p.m. and the whole night wraps up by around 7:30 p.m. Our speakers try to keep their presentations short and informal so your questions and comments can help determine the flow and depth of the conversation.

Because of the cafés’ popularity, some talks have been standing room only. So come early for a good seat, to order something tasty or get in your drink order.
