What is the achievement?
The MagLab reached over 10,000 K-12 students in 2017, providing high-quality science outreach to our local community. These students acquire a deeper understanding of the MagLab, the science performed here and of science overall.
Why is this important?
National Science Education Standards include an emphasis on increasing scientific literacy within the population.
Why did they need the MagLab?
As a national lab, the MagLab is viewed as a leader in science education for the local community. Maintaining educational outreach that leaves an impact on local students is crucial to the lab’s success as a scientific laboratory and as a citizen of our host community.
