Technical Research Designer - Cryogenics Level I

Responsibilities

This position operates and maintains helium cryogenic systems and equipment for the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. Duties include:

  • Operate, troubleshoot & maintain the MagLab's cryogenic process systems. Operate the power supplies and support systems of the 45 Telsa Hybrid Magnet. Provide general support to scientists including assisting with cryogenic & magnet operations.
  • Contribute to the distribution of liquid helium to scientific users & superconducting magnets. Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other power tools. Maintain calm demeanor in stressful situations and have a positive teamwork attitude.
  • Implement and assist in the development of the MagLab 's safety policies & procedures. Serve as technical resource for employees and users of the MagLab cryogenic systems.
  • In consultation with supervior(s) and design engineers, assist with determining changes in design and operation of cryogenic equipment to improve efficiency and reduce overall usage cost.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent and four years of experience. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
