Research Engineer Level II - IV - DC Field Facility

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for selecting and applying standard engineering techniques and procedures in the design, development, and maintenance of highly specialized scientific equipment. Perform complex scientific research procedures and experiments. Schedule and coordinate research projects and providing assistance to users of the facility.
  • Carry out specialized, high level engineering tasks to create, construct, repair and maintain instrumentation components. Work with users to carry out experiments ensuring facility is equipped with specific instruments, parts and tools. Instruct users in the operation of specific equipment and NHMFL facilities.
  • Maintain technical knowledge and expertise at the highest level and use this knowledge/expertise to identify short and long range instrumentation needs. Assist in development and direction of the user program. Participate in development of new programs to meet users needs as they evolve.
  • Serve as interface between scientist and users to ensure completion of tasks and make improvements to instrumentation as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned including participating with Open House and supporting other outreach projects and facility requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three years of experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to seven years.
