Job ID: 540641
Location: Main Campus University of Florida (Gainesville, FL)
Application Deadline: July 31, 2026
The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (National MagLab) seeks an individual with strong administrative skills for a permanent position as Research Coordinator II for the MagLab user facilities located at the University of Florida. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM- or business-related field and two years experience with project management, preferably in a major user instrumentation facility or national lab setting. Previous experience working with scientists in an academic setting with technically demanding, interdisciplinary projects is especially desirable.
The successful candidate will be expected to oversee user program operations and outreach for the Advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy (AMRIS) Facility and the High B/T Facility and to coordinate with and assist other MagLab administrative offices. The AMRIS and High B/T facilities provide support to scientists at the University of Florida who use these facilities as well as a vibrant and diverse external user program supported by the MagLab. These facilities have several staff scientists who provide support and training to users, oversee instrument development and maintenance, and are responsible for daily operations. This position offers unique opportunities to contribute to the growth of new programs in the AMRIS and High B/T facilities through fostering collaborative efforts of the faculty and technical staff at various branches of the MagLab and assisting with outreach to users. In particular, the candidate will liaise with other facilities and offices of the MagLab to coordinate outreach activities, facilitate scientific collaborations, assist with submission of grant proposals and organize training workshops and scientific meetings. The position will be based in Gainesville, but frequent travel to the MagLab facilities in Tallahassee will be expected to promote coordination and collaboration.
