MRI Tech-NMR

Responsible for carrying out animal handling and testing, basic surgical and necropsy procedures and coordinating and maintaining the animal facility at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory.

Provide support to users on high field NMR systems. Coordinates animal experiments and the purchasing of animals and necessary supplies.

Scan MRI specimens, monitor animal health and well-being in cooperation with the FSU Laboratory Animal Resources department, including the maintenance of MR and animal data.

High school diploma or equivalency and two years experience; or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to two years.

Experience in animal handling and animal research models. Candidates must be comfortable with handling rodents and participating in studies that utilize animal models of disease. Must be able to perform surgical procedures (cell implantation, tissue harvesting, perfusion fixation, etc.) and behavioral characterizations (open field testing, gate length, strength assessment, etc.).

Must successfully complete the FSU Animal Research training conducted through AAALAC (Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International), post-hire.
