This position will be at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (MagLab), the largest and highest-powered magnet lab in the world.

Responsibilities

This position will work with the Computer Support Group at the MagLab. This position is responsible for implementing security strategies and protocols to protect the MagLab against cybersecurity risks.

Responsible for research, development, implementation, testing and reviewing areas of information security to protect information and prevent unauthorized access. Inform users about security measures, explain potential threats, implement security measures, and conduct employee security awareness training. Help coordinate the development of the MagLab's information technology strategic risk management program. Assist with development, implementation, and maintenance of organizational information security policies and procedures in coordination with appropriate administrative or executive offices. Communicate risk mitigation and security strategies to upper levels of management.

Engage in unit information risk and privacy assessments and related monitoring activities in coordination with other compliance and operation assessment functions. This involves conducting business impact analysis, disaster recovery planning, identifying vulnerabilities, and devising appropriate security measures. Act as subject matter expert, recommend and implement corrective measures to technical challenges that may threaten information privacy and security standards. Work closely with FSU's Information Technology Services (ITS) and Information Security and Privacy Office (ISPO).

Develop and maintain policies, standards, procedures, and cybersecurity framework in alignment with NIST, NSF and FSU guidelines, policies, standards and procedures. Monitor and implement ever-changing federal and NSF cybersecurity requirements for a national laboratory/large facility.

Implement and monitor surveillance systems, like logging server, and monitor current systems to remediate cybersecurity risks on MagLab servers and endpoints. Develop emergency response plans specific to a national laboratory, conduct drills and training sessions, and implement and monitor surveillance systems to respond to security incidents promptly. In case of a security breach, investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and two years of experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: or a high school diploma/equivalent and six years of experience.)

Preferred Qualifications

This position requires knowledge and experience in policy and procedure documentation. Working with and documenting coordinator and support staff functions is a large function of this position to document current procedures.
