Industrial Safety & Health Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing safety training procedures and practices for the MagLab. Review, develop and improve safety training to reduce the risk of accidents occurring. Training includes CPR, first aid, fall protection, ladder safety, forklift safety, ergonomics, hazard identification, risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Assist in developing and implementing programs for the management of MagLab Safety department such as integrated management program, controlled access program, confined space program, lock out tag program, magnetic field safety program, electrical safety program, industrial occupation program, tool and equipment safety, personal protective equipment program and other programs as required, life safety audits and reviews. Coordinate THA, ISM training, and safety documentation reviews (e.g., Magnet SOWs).
  • Administer access control and facility security systems, including electronic locks, surveillance cameras, key/card issuance. Assist in managing the MagLab security system to include electronic control access system, control and issue of keys and access cards, and investigation of theft and damage.
  • Interprets and ensures compliance with federal and state laws, University rules and environmental health and safety guidelines. Creates MagLab specific safety, and security procedures.
  • Participate in emergency response, HAZWOPER activities, SAFEMAG and Moneta support, and serve as a member of the Incident Command System (ICS) team. Participate in Incident/Accident investigations and root cause analysis.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.
