The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory invites applications for the Dirac Postdoctoral Fellowship, a two-year (renewable for an additional year) postdoctoral fellowship in condensed matter theory. The program is designed for Ph.D.'s with a research interest in any of the condensed matter areas represented by the three sites of the National MagLab. In particular, we are looking for applicants interested in any of the following research topics: unconventional superconductivity, strongly correlated electron systems, magnetism, 2D moiré/graphene/TMD systems, nonequilibrium systems, and plasmonics. Successful applicants are expected to demonstrate a high aptitude for theoretical research as well as to draw on the close connection with the ongoing experimental program both at the MagLab and host universities.
The expectation is that upon appointment, the successful 2025 candidate will be located at the MagLab in Tallahassee in the condensed matter theory group (Nick Bonesteel, Hitesh Changlani, Vlad Dobrosavljevic, Cyprian Lewandowski, Oskar Vafek, and Kun Yang). The appointment includes a competitive salary and benefits, $5000 annually in discretionary funds to cover research and travel expenses, and the opportunity to travel to the other two MagLab sites at Los Alamos and the University of Florida at Gainesville. Applicants from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
Applicants should submit the following material through the Academic Jobs Online posting (link above):
(Official graduate transcript will be required from successful applicants to whom offers are extended).
Application review will begin on November 15, 2024, and continue until the position is filled. The appointment will commence on or about September 1, 2025.
For additional information about the application process or questions about the position, please contact Cyprian Lewandowski.
