Jorge Hirsch is a theoretical physicist and professor at the University of California San Diego who studies superconductivity. He visited the MagLab to conduct research on the Meissner effect, harnessing the lab’s unique combination of specialized equipment, extreme cryogenic temperatures, and high magnetic fields.
Hirsch is also known for creating the h-index, a metric that reflects a researcher’s productivity of publications and citations in a single parameter.
More than 1,400 scientists come from across the world to use our unique magnets. If you have an experiment you would like to do here, find out how to request magnet time. Magnet time is free.
