The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (MagLab) is seeking an exceptional individual for an Assistant-In-Research (faculty) position on analysis, testing and R&D of superconducting magnets. The candidate will be immersed in a highly technical testing campaign funded by a commercial sponsor. The position will be supported for as long as the commercial sponsor provides funding.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
Qualified candidates should have a Master of Science or higher degree in mechanical engineering, materials science or other relevant engineering and physical sciences fields with 2+ years of relevant experiences. The candidate should have solid knowledge of superconducting fundamentals, thermal physics, cryogenic testing and data acquisition with LabView. Experience in design and experimental operations, as well as hands-on experience with mechanical hardware and electrical instrumentation are expected. Working experience with superconducting magnet test coils is required. Familiarity with cryogens, 3D mechanical design, finite element analysis, comsol and LabVIEW programming are also required.
