Sample Environments

A scientific probe

The DC Field Facility offers sample environments ranging from 20 mK to 800 C.

This system is used in conjunction with the 25 tesla split-helix magnet in cell 5.


This system can be run in cell 9, which has a maximum field of 31 T.


The 3He insert system is a top-loading into liquid sorbtion pumped 3He cryostat. The temperature range of the insert is .3 K to 80 K.

The Janis 13” (model CNDT) is a general purpose liquid helium 4 dewar used with the DC Field resistive 32 mm bore and 50 mm bore magnets.


This system can be used with the 30 tesla magnet in cell 2 or the 45 tesla magnet in cell 15.


A portable dilution refrigerator (PDF) is available for use in the 35 T magnet (Cell 8) and in the 45 T Hybrid Magnet (Cell 15).
